About this deal
The keyboards should be identical between the Legion 5 and Legion 5 Pro series, yet somehow I found this one here on the 5 Pro more accurate in my tests. For the Legion 5 17, Lenovo relies on a fast Samsung SSD. In this case, it has a capacity of 512 GB and uses the fast M.2 PCIe interface for data transfers. As our results show, however, this setup cannot quite keep up with the competition. At 512 GB, the capacity is not exactly massive, either. On a gaming laptop, we expect at least 1 TB of storage space.

Finally, I’ll mention that camera at the top of the screen. It’s HD-only and washed-out quality even in good light, but at least it’s there and can do that job when needed. This comes with an electronic shutter on the left side of the laptop, which electronically kills both the camera and the microphones, and not just covers the lens with a piece of plastic. Battery life What you’re getting here is rugged and reliable build quality, fair inputs, IO and screen, as well as excellent performance across the board in all sorts of demanding loads and games. Paired with the clean design, this Legion 5 is an excellent choice for all-around use, for school, work, or gaming in your spare time. The main selling points are the sturdy all-metal build, the uncompromised IO and inputs, an excellent QHD+ 16:10 165Hz screen, as well as competent specs, with a full-power RTX 3060 and an 80Wh battery. What’s not to like, then? Well, the audio and camera quality are still not much here, and this is also a fairly heavy full-size product, so not a prime choice if portability matters to you. These aside, though, the Legion 5 Pro series is a hard match, and something I wish other manufacturers will learn from for their future launches. Switching over to the Balanced profile leads to the Ryzen 5 stabilizing at 45W of power. The fans spin at 43-44 dB in this case, and temperatures stabilize in the low-80s.
