I recently bought a Lamy pen and the triangle grip changed my life (not to be dramatic or anything...)
Pens and pencils must all be triangular in shape to provide.. Pens and pencils must all be triangular in shape to provide..
With a fountain pen, you need a rotating nib/feed, like on the Parker 75, so that you can rotate the nib to sit properly on the paper. Having said all that, I do like slightly concave sections or ones with a flare or lip at the end to stop my fingers sliding down towards the nib (especially if the section is on the skinny side) but shape is less important overall than how it meets the barrel. the joy of an inexpensive pen with a broad or stub nib: shimmering inks, sheening inks, no fear of ruining something super collectable/rare/vintagethe way I grip my pen is weird I guess, because with every other pen (fountain pen or even normal ballpoint pen) the nail of my thumb digs into my pointer finger after a while. It's fine for a couple of minutes but if I'm writing a lot it gets bad.. playing with tweezers/tongs, using very short writing utensils (such as broken crayons), and having the child hold a small object in their palm using their ring and pinky fingers to isolate their remaining fingers and thumb for writing utensil grasp

First I focus on building proximal stability via weight bearing exercises. Then I focus on distal mobility with exercises to strengthen the intrinsic muscles of the hand. Lastly, I focus on the actual grasp, and depending on the student, either reposition the grasp manually or, for students with lower tone, provide a pencil grip that facilitates a tripod grasp. For younger kids, giving them appropriate sized writing utensils (e.g, short pencils, broken crayons) and cueing them to hold them in a developmentally appropriate way has been effective. For older kids, it’s much harder to change a grasp pattern that they’ve gotten comfortable using, but providing grips has helped with some kids in my experience.
Triangle grips are a little rare in biros, but not particularly so. My Papermate InkJoy 100RT is a triangular pen. I know that this is a bit of a zombie post, but I would recommend adding something about how different cleaning materials might react with different pen materials (ammonia, isopropol alcohol, etc). That may work for most people, but what if you’re not most people? Here are a few different kinds of sections that you can look for, and some manufacturers and models that use them.
